All day Thursday, team Cute Potato was hoping it wouldn’t rain, so we could attend the Maine Audubon’s Annual Peony Bloom and Ice Cream Social. We love ice cream, especially when it’s free! And we were looking forward to viewing the peony garden.
The good news? The stunning pink, white and fuschia blooms at the Audubon’s Gilsland Farm did not disappoint – even with a little rain beginning to fall.
And the table for the social was set up indoors, so it seemed all was not lost, until we learned the ice cream wouldn’t be served until 6:30. The team looked wilted, but all were temporarily revived when they spotted the great books, toys and gifts in the Audubon’s Nature Store.
As for the ice cream social? The Cute Potato kids were sleepy, and needed to head home pronto. But the Audubon isn’t going away. And we’ll be back soon to enjoy the gardens with ice cream cones in hand.
